The first initiative into building Aruba’s Knowledge Economy was UA’s development of Sustainable Island Solutions through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (SISSTEM) Bachelor Program in 2019. The SISSTEM program provides qualitative and relevant research and education in Sciences, Technology, and Engineering that attracts students from Aruba and the entire region.
Supported by the university’s research centers and laboratories, SISSTEM students achieve skills in sustainable energy, bio-environmental awareness, sustainable technology, engineering, informatics and data sciences. In addition to the bachelor’s program, SISSTEM will offer a multidisciplinary master’s program and Ph.D. projects for sustainable development in small island states.
