Online Business Workshop Provides Valuable Information for Potential Investors
On July 2, 2024, we held an online workshop via Microsoft Teams on the theme: “Tax Considerations for Dutch Investors.” This event followed the Aruba Investment Summit held last March in the Netherlands. Our main focus was to attract investors to the island, particularly in the areas of commercial agriculture and urban investments in Oranjestad and San Nicolas.
EY Aruba facilitated this informative session, which we organized in collaboration with the Minister of Economic Affairs, Communication and Sustainable Development and the Aruba Investment Agency (ARINA). ARINA’s mission, closely aligned with Minister Geoffrey Wever’s goals, aims to assist potential investors in Aruba. We provided unique insights into the similarities and differences between fiscal legislation applicable in the Netherlands and Aruba.
We delivered valuable information to participants on topics such as direct and indirect taxes, tax benefits, cost deductions, investment aspects in Aruba, preferential regimes like the Freezone, sustainable investments, and the latest tax developments.
“We aim to provide participants with the necessary information to make informed calculations. This way, we can create a ‘pool’ of investors in Aruba. The appetite for investment varies among investors, and the benefit of diversifying investments here is the growth and expansion of expertise, contributing to the strengthening of our economy. Dutch investors bring their expertise in the HORECA sector and commercial agriculture, which is beneficial to Aruba,” said Minister Wever.
