LEADING THE CARIBBEAN IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Sustainability is one of Aruba’s primary goals and is a key driver of businesses development initiatives on the island. The National Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Committee leads and coordinates strategic direction in this area, including building investments that decrease dependence on single-use products and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Aruba aims to minimize waste in the island’s economy by focusing on careful management of material flows, from product design to reverse logistics to cross-sector collaboration. PARTNER WITH ARUBA FOR SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS

Aruba is focused on investments that create an ecosystem of circular development by the year 2050. International businesses and knowledge experts can assist Aruba by learning about the island’s sustainability goals and targets, facilitating knowledge exchange and promoting results that can be replicated in other Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The development of sustainable solutions can also lead to niche development in recycling, reduction of food waste, and the repurposing of materials, such as old tires, plastic, and scrap metal.

IMPLEMENTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS IN ARUBA

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the global blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future adopted by all countries in the United Nations. The ambitious vision is a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
The Government of Aruba is committed to implementing the SDGs in Aruba through the National Strategic Plan (NSP) 2019-2022, NOS PLAN, NOS FUTURO. The NSP identifies nine programs, each with its strategic objectives, desired outcomes, and actions that advance Aruba’s progress towards its global goals.
