A tourism delegation led by Minister Dangui Oduber is currently visiting Miami to promote the island as a prime destination for luxury yacht marinas. The delegation includes representatives from the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) and the Aruba Ports Authority (APA), along with other officials. They are meeting with various cruise line companies to discuss potential investments and partnerships.
During the meetings, the delegation presented the latest developments and tourism statistics, highlighting Aruba’s economic growth and the island’s potential as a luxury yacht destination. Information was shared with prominent companies like Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line, which received the proposal positively.
This initiative follows a recent study conducted by the ATA on the luxury yacht market. The study concluded that Aruba has enormous potential in this sector, noting that the island falls outside the hurricane belt. This makes Aruba a very safe destination for navigation and a prime location for luxury yachts. “Aruba has all the ingredients to explore this market,” said Minister Oduber.
The delegation also coordinated several visits to Aruba for these companies to inspect the site of the Aruba Refinery (RdA), part of which is designated for future tourism development. The first step is to clean up the area. Despite this, there is significant opportunity to diversify tourism and explore a new industry, whether as a cruise destination or a marina for luxury yachts.
Additionally, the delegation visited the Dutch Embassy to inform them of the purpose of their visit and seek assistance in exploring this new market. Aruba aims to leverage its unique position and resources to attract investments in luxury yacht marinas, further boosting its tourism sector and economic growth.
