Oranjestad Revitalization: Phase 3 Kicks Off with Sustainable Development

October 2, 2024

The Aruba Investment Agency (AIA) is excited to share the latest progress in the revitalization of Oranjestad, marking a major step forward for investors interested in Aruba’s expanding sectors like hospitality and sustainable urban development. On October 1, 2024, the groundbreaking for Phase 3 of the Oranjestad Revitalization Project took place, signaling the start of extensive improvements throughout the city. This phase focuses on the Lagoen area and extends to key streets such as Irenestraat and Caya Mario E. Harms.

Led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the project is part of a broader vision to enhance the city’s infrastructure while prioritizing sustainability. Phase 3 includes expanded parking, taxi stands, and electric vehicle charging stations. In addition, the project features a comprehensive maintenance and beautification plan for Irenestraat and Wilhelminastraat, improving access for both vehicles and pedestrians. By the end of 2024, these upgrades will contribute to a more accessible and modern city center.

A key focus of the revitalization is the transformation of Oranjestad into a Culinary Capital®. The project will develop pedestrian-friendly areas designed to promote dining and social interaction, making the city a hub for restaurants, cafĂ©s, and food-related events. The upgraded streets and plazas will create a vibrant environment for both residents and visitors, further elevating Oranjestad’s appeal.

For investors, this presents an opportunity to be part of Aruba’s transformation into a top destination for food tourism, with sustainable infrastructure that supports long-term growth. The revitalization of Oranjestad is poised to balance economic development with environmental responsibility, offering promising investment opportunities across various sectors. Investors are encouraged to explore the potential of this project as Oranjestad moves towards becoming a modern, sustainable, and thriving urban center.
