A new economic model based on a sustainable and inclusive economy
The Minister of Economic Affairs, Communication, and Sustainable Development, Mr. Geoffrey B. Wever emphasized the need to make new decisions concerning the economic development of Aruba to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants and future generations. He underlined the significance of taking sustainable development thinking into the decision-making process in the recently published National Action Plan 2023-2025.
National Action Plan 2023-2025
The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Communication, and Sustainable Development developed the National Action Plan 2023–2025 through interactive participation sessions with public, corporate, and academic stakeholders to address social, economic, and environmental concerns. The plan places a strong emphasis on sustainable and inclusive economic diversification and ensures the quality standard of public amenities necessary to make life and doing business in Aruba easier. Everyone was encouraged to participate in creating this plan with an emphasis on long-term goals. The Ministry coordinated with experts to develop a feasible plan of action based on concrete steps to transition to a new economic model based on sustainability and inclusiveness. The National Plan of Action will guide the Government in executing sustainable projects. The Minister highlighted in the plan that cooperation between the public and commercial sectors is indispensable to carry out this plan successfully.
A More Resilient, Inclusive, and Sustainable Future
The Minister emphasized the necessity of long-term economic goals and sustainable development in decision-making, which must serve as a wake-up call for all to get involved in creating a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economic structure for Aruba. “We have a part to play in this transformation as businesses and entrepreneurs, and I challenge us all to rise to the occasion and work to improve the future of our island. Together we must develop a fresh, inclusive, and sustainable economic system. All citizens, both present and future, are accountable, as proclaimed by the Minister Geoffrey Wever.”
